Eric Deragisch enters his fourth year as an assistant coach and his eighth season overall with the Anteater program.  His responsibilities include student-athlete recruitment and serving as the hitting and outfield coach. On game day Deragisch serves as the first base coach and is responsible for positioning the outfielders and working with the hitters in providing scouting reports on the opposing pitchers. In 2015, Deragisch guided the team to a .282 batting average, ranking third overall in the Big West Conference (BWC). In 2016 the team batting average was .282 ranking first in the BWC and in 2017 the team batting average was .274 ranking second in the BWC. The 2017 team was led by Keston Hiura with a batting average of .454 which led the entire nation at the Division 1 level.

Prior to moving to the coaching ranks, Deragisch was the program’s Director of Operations from 2011-14. He coordinated the program’s post-season playoff functions for the Los Angeles Regional and Charlottesville Super Regional in 2011 as well as the Corvallis Regional, the Stillwater Super Regional and the College World Series in Omaha in 2014.

As a player, Deragisch helped the Anteaters to two NCAA Tournament berths. In 2008, UCI advanced to the Lincoln Regional and the Baton Rouge Super Regional.  In 2009, the Anteaters were ranked No. 1 in the country and hosted the Irvine Regional, both firsts in UCI baseball history. Deragisch was voted to the 2009 Irvine Regional All-Tournament team, as well as being selected to the All-Big West Conference first team. He posted a .331 career batting average, along with 116 hits including 15 doubles, five triples and four home runs.  He also had a career 55 RBI. After a standout career on the field at UCI from 2007-2009, Deragisch remained with the program as the undergraduate assistant in 2010 before assuming the position of Director of Operations the following year.

Prior to playing at UCI, he competed at Sierra College, where he was named to the 2007 All-Northern California team and was voted to the Big 7 All-Conference team as a sophomore.  He played 41 games and was second on the team with a .353 average while leading the team with 14 doubles and 34 RBI. Deragisch prepped at Jesuit High School, where he was voted the team’s Player of the Year in 2005.  He led the team to a Delta League championship and picked up all-league honors in 2004 and 2005.  

He graduated from UCI in 2010 with a degree in sociology and a minor in educational studies and recently completed his Master’s Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. Eric and his wife, Missy, reside in Irvine, California.
