Media Services
Media are invited to work in the designated areas of the respective UC Irvine athletics venues. Seating, however, is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Media members must be granted a credential to work in the designated press area. For most facilities, phone lines, and Internet access are available. Working members of the media will be provided with game notes and flip cards and will be informed of developments of interest during the competition. Statistics will be provided at appropriate breaks and at the conclusion of the game.
Credentials
Credential Request Form | Please reach out to the corresponding athletics communications contact for the designated sport in which you are requesting a credential for. All media outlets are asked to request credentials at least 24 hours in advance of an event to ensure your request will be fulfilled. Spacing is limited and requests will be considered on a case-by-base basis.
Press Row
Working press row credentials shall be issued to the opposing athletics communications contacts, accredited newspapers, radio and television reporters only. Requests from other media sources shall be evaluated on a game-by-game basis. Spacing is limited, so please contact the corresponding home athletics communications contact in a timely manner. The visiting athletics communications contact will be allowed the first opening if there is extra seating available.
Interviews
All interviews with coaches, student-athletes and staff members must be coordinated through the athletics communications department. Immediately following games the locker rooms are closed. Player and coach interviews may be conducted outside locker rooms or on the playing surface after a minimal, 10-minute cooling off period. Practices are open to the media whenever necessary, but please provide advance notice of attendance.
Photography
NCAA rules prohibit the use of a student-athletes name, picture, or likeness to be used in the promotion of any business (such as advertisements) or to appear on any commercial items such as t-shirts. The use of a UC Irvine student-athlete’s name, picture, or likeness in any commercial entity jeopardizes the eligibility of UC Irvine student-athletes. Please help us comply with NCAA rules and refrain from using the name, picture, or likeness of a UC Irvine student-athlete in any advertising or on any commercial items.
A credentialed photographer may:
- Provide photos of the student-athletes to the athletic department, provided the photographs do not contain a watermark or logo of the commercial entity or photographer;
- Post photographs of student-athletes with remaining eligibility to a web site for "newsworthy" or "informational" purposes as long as there is no link to a commercial web site or social media page that advertises the services of the photographer;
- Post photographs of student-athletes whose eligibility has expired.
A credentialed photographer may not:
- Sell photographs of student-athletes with remaining athletic eligibility for private use including parents or other relatives or acquaintances of the student-athlete;
- Post photographs of student-athletes with remaining eligibility on social media accounts;
- Post a portfolio to a commercial web site that contains information about a photographer's business, or either advertises or promotes the services of the photographer;
- Place a student-athlete's name or photo on commercial items (t-shirts, posters, etc.) that are produced by a commercial agency.
Due to limited space and to ensure compliance with NCAA guidelines, no credentials will be issued to either freelance writers or photographers without a specific assignment received in writing by the assigning organization.
Per NCAA guidelines, photographers are limited to shooting in the designated areas along the competition surface. Please refrain from shooting near benches and consider viewpoints for the fans in the stands. Photographers are asked to stand at least 10 feet away from the playing surface at any venue.
Radio/Television Broadcasts
The athletic communications staff asks that all radio or television broadcasts (including webcasts and livestreams) are approved through their office one week in advance of the contest.
