Gutierrez's Big Day Guides Series Win, 15-3

- The hosts were on the board early with runs in each of the first two innings
- A leadoff double came around to score in the first in a four-hit inning, but a pickoff and two strikeouts with runners on scoring position from Finnegan Wall doused the threat.
- In the second inning, the Highlanders loaded the bases before a bloop single drove in a run. A second runner attempted to score, but a great play and throw by Auggie Gutierrez behind first base cut the runner down and kept it a 2-0 game
- The Anteaters were quick to respond putting up five runs in the third inning and taking the lead
- A pair of singles got things off the ground before Frankie Carney doubled the other way to start the scoring
- An error up the middle with two outs allowed the tying run to score and extended the inning
- Zach Crandall slapped a hit the other way to score two and give UCI a lead with another run to follow for a 5-2 advantage
- Gutierrez, who added that fifth run in the third inning, came up in the fifth and blasted his first career home run for a 7-2 lead
- In the seventh inning, UCI still held a 7-3 lead before their patience was rewarded with an eight-run inning
- UCI used six walks and two hit by pitch to their advantage in the inning
- UCI had just three hits with Zach Fjelstad reaching on a bunt single and Efren Ortega's popup getting lost in the sun for a run
- The third hit was from Gutierrez lashing an inside-out swing into right field to score two more to complete the inning and making the lead, 15-3
- A massive effort on the mound came from starter Finnegan Wall who dodged bullets in the first two innings to finish up with three earned runs and nine hits scattered over 4.1 innings
- Ryder Brooks led the bullpen charge that allowed one run over 4.2 innings with three strikeouts while picking up his second win of the week
- Caden Castles and David Butler used 15 pitches in total to close out two spotless innings in the eighth and ninth
- The offense mashed 15 more hits and reached base 28 times on the day
- Crandall, Fjelstad, and Gutierrez all had three-hit days
- Gutierez cranked his first career home run and drove in a career high five RBIs
- Crandall had three more RBIs and reached base five times
- Five Anteaters scored two runs each including Lucas Schermer who drove in a run and reached four times
- Daniel Polasek scored twice and drove in two
