CORVALLIS, Ore. --- UC Irvine baseball came through in an NCAA Regional elimination game defeating Tulane, 17-7, Sunday afternoon in Goss Stadium.
- Both teams led in the first inning after UCI doubled and singled with two outs to lead 1-0. Tulane got help from an error and a balk to score two unearned runs and lead, 2-1
- The Anteaters went on a march scoring in each of the next four innings to tie things up and get back in front, 6-2
- A run in the sixth for Tulane made it 6-3, but Ricky Ojeda cleaned up his own mess leaving multiple runners on and holding the lead
- The seventh inning ended any real threat of a comeback as the first nine Anteater reached base en route to a nine-run inning highlighted by two-run doubles up the third base line by Abraham Garcia-Pacheco and Caden Kendle to lead 15-3
- The 'Eaters tacked on some solid ninth-inning moments including Jo Oyama's towering blast to make it 17-3, and Luke Spillane got his first at-bat since tearing his ACL in March and provided a base hit in the 17-7 win
- Danny Suarez made the most of his 2.2-IP start striking out five and not allowing an earned run to set the tone. Ricky Ojeda did get his sixth win of the season tossing 3.1 hitless innings
- Offensive leaders in the 15-hit barrage were led by Garcia-Pacheco with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored
- Oyama pelted his ninth home run of the season while reaching four times and scoring three
