FULLERTON, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball fell 9-2 Saturday evening at Goodwin Field to even the series with Cal State Fullerton, but set an NCAA record in the process.

With one out in the fifth inning of a 5-0 game, Will Bermudez with hit by a pitch and took first base registering the 153 HBP for the team this season.
- The seemingly meaningless play set a new NCAA Division I single-season record surpassing the 152 set by Delaware State in 2012

As for the ballgame, it was all Cal State Fullerton from the start.
- A home run from the first hitter the Titans sent to the plate in the first inning made it a 1-0 game
- They would have the first six hitters of the night reach to jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first
- The Titans built a 7-0 lead capped by Nico Regino's second home run of the game in the fifth inning
The Anteaters were unable to piece together any offense with eight singles on the night and leaving 12 on base
- Dub Gleed drove in two with a shot off the center field wall in the seventh which stood as the only scoring for the Anteaters
- A few Anteaters had solid outings like Myles Smith and Abraham Garcia-Pacheco who each had a hit and two walks
- Anthony Martinez and Gleed each had two-hit games
The loss snaps a six-game win streak and string of 10 straight road wins

The series is up for grabs heading into Sunday. First pitch is 1:00 p.m. with Tim Grack on the mound for UCI and CSF's starter yet to be determined.
