  • Baseball representative on Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
  • Played three seasons at UC Davis making 33 pitching appearances, 28 starts
  • Over his career, registered a 7-13 record, 5.39 ERA, 52 walks to 103 strikeouts in 168.2 innings
  • Led all Aggies in 2021 with four wins, 62 strikeouts, 15 starts, 83.1 innings pitched and two runners picked off
  • Posted season highs with eight innings and nine strikeouts on April 2 vs. UC Riverside, the nine strikeouts were a career high
  • Went a career high 8.2 innings as a freshman in a win over Hawai'i
  • 2021: 15 starts, 4-8, 5.40, 83.1 IP, 97 H, 25 BB, 62 K

  • Selected to play in the Lions Orange County All-Star Game as well as Ryan Lemmon South Coast League All-Star Game as senior

  • Three-time recipient of his team’s Cy Young Most Outstanding Pitcher Award
  • Two-time South Coast League first team selection
  • Capped his senior season with a 6-2 record and 1.85 ERA over 64.1 innings of work.

  • Parents are Jim and Lori Spillane
  • Younger brother, Luke, is in his third year with UC Irvine baseball - also has a sister, Kelly
  • Jim played basketball at UCLA on John Wooden's last national champion in 1975
  • Grandfather, John Arndt, coached basketball at LMU from 1961-68
  • Born in Los Angeles
  • Chose to transfer to UCI because it has consistently had a great baseball team with a solid coaching staff and is much closer to home. It also offers Sociology as a major which I had been studying at UC Davis
  • Fan of Max Scherzer, and does not have a favorite sports team
  • Enjoys watching his favorite movie, I Am Legend, his favorite tv show, Avatar The Last Airbender, and the musical stylings of Landon McNamara, 311, Lil Nax X, He is Legend, and Red Sun Rising
  • Would love to visit Montreux, Switzerland
  • Favorite animal is the Australian Masked Owl
