Β·Β The week's big performance came from Savanna Arruda with her first start since 2023. She made it count with her first career result and shutout while stopping six shots good for both a career high and highest save total in a game this season for UCI goalies
Β·Β On the back of Arruda's performance, UC Irvine's defense has maintained a shutout streak for 327:03 extending through the last seven halves of play between her and Laurynn Ziller. The Anteaters also have a streak nearing 600 minutes in which they have not allowed a goal in the run of play dating back to the only goal allowed in the run of play in the first half at GCU
Β·Β Minutes milestones continue to fall with Mihaela Perez 10 minutes from 5,000 in her career. Ivy Williams is 83 minutes from 2,000 minutes. Recently, Anteaters have passed milestones including Trinity Morales hitting 3,000 career minutes and Clara Samson reaching 1,000. Chifumi Sasaki is within reach of 1,000 this week as well

Β·Β Santa Clara enters the week 3-3 having won two straight. The Broncos are 1-2 on the road while all three losses this year have come to ranked opposition. Santa Clara was ranked themselves to begin the year at No. 16, but have since fallen from the top 25
Β·Β SCU and UCI meet for the 16th time in their histories and first since 2017. Santa Clara has 14 wins in the series with one draw coming in 2011 on a neutral site. The last visit to UCI was in 2015, a place UCI is 0-4 against them. Since the last meeting, the Broncos added another national title to their mantle coming in 2020, the second for the program
Β·Β The Broncos wins have all been shutout wins and seen goals from junior Kennedy Schoennauer. Adee Goulden has two goals, both coming losses to premier competition, with other staples like Malia Yamamoto and Kat Jordan along the backline. In goal, Amaris Franco and Ally Reynolds have shared time equally with Franco snagging 17 of the 23 total saves
Sunday vs. the Cougars
Β·Β Washington State has struggled to an 0-1-3 start losing to Utah State with draws at Idaho, at Cal, and home to No. 13 Georgia. They see UC San Diego Thursday before traveling to UCI.
Β·Β The series belongs to WSU who is 4-1-1, but UCI earned a 1-1 draw in Pullman a year ago. Prior, UCI had hosted a loss in 2013, and the only win in the series came at home in 1991
Β·Β The Cougars have struggled for scoring early on against top competition. The defense is more than formidable however led by Keara Fitzgerald again in goal stopping 23 shots with similar numbers to UCI's keeper situation. They return the goal scorer from the 2024 matchup who resides on the defensive backline in Jenna Studer
