RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer fell 4-0 Wednesday night at CBU Soccer Stadium against California Baptist.

Rapid Review

First half action was pretty even between the program through the early going. CBU did put up eight shots to UCI's two while UCI had the 4-3 lead in corners.
The host Lancers thought they had the initial goal in the 32nd minute, but the play was ruled offside and upheld after a video review.
Another goal went in in the 37th minute off a feed from the touchline that slipped between the legs of keeper Sara Paul. Another review on the play looked to disallow it, but CBU kept their goal and a 1-0 lead into the break.

Storm Chasers

Second half play began and so did some torrential rain at the field. It was tough sledding for a while, and the challenging conditions helped toward a second goal.
A set piece for California Baptist was sent on goal with Paul battling the footing to make a great save, but the rebound was left on the doorstep that the Lancers put away for a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute
UC Irvine turned up the attack looking to get back in the match including a Fiona Shin attempt that tested CBU's keeper.
The Lancers were the ones able to build on their advantage scoring on a counter by Maya Yoshimura in the 69th minute, and a final goal in the 88th minute from outside the box to finish the CBU victory.

California Baptist 4, UC Irvine 0

Sara Paul finished with four saves on the match, a new career high.
Notable in the match were Clara Samson and Chifumi Sasaki both in the starting XI in the 50th matches of their careers.

UCI has three Big West matches remaining as they sit at seven points and a conference record of 2-5-1 to go with a 4-8-3 overall record. Next up is another road contest Sunday, October 25, at Cal Poly kicking off at 1:00 p.m.
