IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team is sending two student-athletes to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships this week. The four-day meet will be held at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas, May 25-28.

Senior Noah Holm and freshman Liam Miksic will represent the Anteaters at the West Prelims. Miksic kicks off the action in the javelin Wednesday at 12 p.m. (PT). Holm is a two-event qualifier as he is set to compete in the shot put Wednesday at 5 p.m. (PT), and in the discus on Friday at 11 a.m. (PT).

The top-12 finishers in each individual event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 8-11, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

• Holm has won eight of his 11 shot put competitions this season.
• He went unbeaten through April 8 as he won the event in his first five outings.
• Holm established a personal-record and regional qualifying mark of 58-08.75 at The Battle in the OC on April 22.
• That ranks first in the Big West and 44th in the West Region this year, while it also puts him at No. 3 in school history.
• In the discus, Holm registered an NCAA qualifying mark in the first meet of the 2022 campaign.
• He launched a lifetime-best 183-06 at the Beach Opener (March 5) to jump to No. 4 in program history.
• Holm is a two-time All-Big West performer, winning the shot and placing third in the discus at the conference meet.
• Holm is the Anteaters' fourth regional qualifier in the men's shot put and fifth in the men's discus.
• This will be the sixth time in the last nine West Preliminary meets that UCI will be represented in the men's shot put.

• Miksic has placed among the top-10 in all nine of his collegiate javelin competitions.
• He won the event at the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic (April 1) and The Battle in the OC (April 22).
• Miksic earned all-conference honors with a third-place finish in his Big West Championship debut.
• He notched a personal-record and NCAA qualifying mark of 209-05 at the conference championships two weeks ago.
• That was the No. 2 mark in school history and put him at No. 4 in the Big West and No. 41 in the region this season.
• He has thrown for over 190 feet in every meet and has surpassed 200 feet five times.
• Miksic joins Jack Pickard (2019, 2021) as the only two 'Eaters to advance to the West Prelims in the men's javelin.

UP NEXT
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. The championship field will be comprised of the top-12 finishers in each event at the two regional meets this week.

Josh Farmer has already qualified for nationals in the decathlon where he is seeded 23rd. Since the combined events are not contested at the Preliminary Round sites, the top-24 declared student-athletes are accepted directly into the NCAA Championships. This will mark Farmer's second-straight NCAA trip as he earned second-team All-America honors with a 16th-place finish last year.
