IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team is sending two student-athletes to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships this week. The four-day meet will be held at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas, May 25-28.
Senior Noah Holm and freshman Liam Miksic will represent the Anteaters at the West Prelims. Miksic kicks off the action in the javelin Wednesday at 12 p.m. (PT). Holm is a two-event qualifier as he is set to compete in the shot put Wednesday at 5 p.m. (PT), and in the discus on Friday at 11 a.m. (PT).
The top-12 finishers in each individual event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 8-11, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. The championship field will be comprised of the top-12 finishers in each event at the two regional meets this week.
Josh Farmer has already qualified for nationals in the decathlon where he is seeded 23rd. Since the combined events are not contested at the Preliminary Round sites, the top-24 declared student-athletes are accepted directly into the NCAA Championships. This will mark Farmer's second-straight NCAA trip as he earned second-team All-America honors with a 16th-place finish last year.
