Five Things to Know: Sean Sparling

IRVINE, Calif. - The second installment of the series as we're winding toward the season's start, and we look at the elder statesman of the roster in Sean Sparling.
The right-hander has been instrumental out of the bullpen and leads all current 'Eaters with 51 games pitched. His 2017 season was cut short after just four games, but he returns for his fifth season with the squad with some starting experience.
RESPECT YOUR ELDERS
Most of my teammates call me Spar, just a shorter version of my last name, but because I'm one of the oldest on the team, I get Grandpa a lot
BALL IS LIFE
As I kid, I wanted to be a professional baseball player, ever since I started playing when I was 5, and my favorite athlete is Clayton Kershaw, and even if I wasn't playing baseball, I'd want to be a baseball umpire
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
My dessert of choice is for sure peach cobbler. While we're on the subject of food - pineapple is allowed on pizza and no, hot dogs are not sandwiches
COUNTRY STRONG
I love going fishing and I think everyone should do it once. Goes well with my dream place to live - Boise, Idaho, catch me out there singing along with Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
There's been too many great memories growing up to list. My favorite parts about being an Anteater has been going on road trips, especially the most memorable and rewarding trip, the College World Series in 2014
