New Faces
- UCI gets its first look at a new member of the Big West in Utah Valley, and the first meeting since 2009 between the programs
- Neither side dominated out of the gate with each side gaining possession and creating chances, but the defenses dictated things early
- UCI had the first real chance in the 17th minute as Jasmyne Wheeler got a head on a corner service that landed just over the crossbar
- Savanna Arruda handled her first test in the 29th minute with a ball that landed in the box knocked away by Arruda, and the return shot was high and grabbed by Arruda
- The Wolverines broke through however in the 32nd minute
- A throw-in from the left sideline found Addie Olson who tracked across the top of the box and fed Nixan Jackson who collected the pass and dotted a shot in the upper right to put Utah Valley ahead, 1-0
- A handful more chances came in highlighted by a UVU tough-angle shot glancing off the crossbar as the match went into the half still at 1-0
- The Anteaters were quick to even the score with the first action of the second half a goal in the 50th minute
- A feed to Mimi Dominguez was played just inside the box. After losing control, the ball rattled around before Fiona Shin took over, cut towards the spot, and unleashed a blast too hot to handle and even the match, 1-1
- UVU quickly tried to respond with a shot on goal saved, and then an unfortunate hand ball put them at the spot where Sadie Beardall would convert in the 55th minute for the lead back, 2-1
- Arruda was keeping the team in the match with four more saves in a 10-minute period, some needing a dive
- The Wolverines managed a third goal to push their lead to 3-1 in the 75th minute
- Isabella Stewart drove to goal and cut toward the middle feeding Beardall who earned enough space to lace a shot by the outstreched Arruda to her right and in
- The 'Eaters pressed on with more chances down the final minutes. A couple went on frame with Mimi Yamamoto denied in the 77th minute, and Jasmyne Wheeler headed a service along that the UVU backline kicked off the goaline in the 80th minute
- Savanna Arruda despite the loss had a career high with eight saves besting her previous high of six
- Fiona Shin's goal extends her team point lead now to eight and is her team-leading third goal of the season
- UCI did finish with more corner kicks, 5-3, and was called for just four fouls in the match
- Mara Cochon made her season debut in the match as UCI's first sub playing 28 minutes
