Storylines

+ Senior will be celebrated in Thursday's non-conference finale which includes the only true senior in the class Kelsey Swyney. The forward from Carlsbad missed her first two years of action dealing with four knee surgeries, but made her triumphant debut in 2025 and even added a goal in the regular season finale at Hawai'i. Sara Paul will also be honored, first year with the Anteaters in the goalkeeping unit but fifth year of collegiate soccer spanning four schools now

+ UCI scoring has come in each of the last three matches and four total on the year. Fiona Shin's goal vs. USD came in the first 10 minutes of the match. UCI has scored all its goals in the first 15 or final 15 minutes of their matches.

+ Mimi Dominguez assisted on Thursday's goal to give her the team lead of three points with a goal and assist on the season

+ Savanna Arruda made three more saves on Thursday upping her total to 21. Oona Hartman added a fourth save with a crucial clearance off the line in the first half

+ Twelve 'Eaters have made collegiate debuts in 2026 with a pair of second-year freshmen, Malaina Duro and Mia Rodriguez, in addition to 10 true freshmen - Lianna Tsabur, Isabella Meric, Elizabeth Hayes, Cam LawsonKitchen, Samara Maldonado, Allison Rabe, Taylor Esparza, Iriana, Griffin, Keira Baranski, and Olivia Stark who started her first match Thursday.

San Diego handed UCI its first home loss in an entertaining first half that featured three goals and three video reviews. UCI was unable to get another equalizer in the second half as USD capitalized in the final minutes to pad their 3-1 victory.

Thursday vs. the Bulldogs

+ Fresno State is having its own rough start at 1-6-1, all six losses coming as shutouts by multiple goals. They also have a 1-1 draw with Sac State.

+ All-time, UCI has won eight of nine matchups including all five on home turf. The sides last met in 2018 with a 2-1 UCI win to open the season

+ The Bulldogs have three goals with two coming from junior Hayden Crotty-Romero and the third from leading shooter, senior Katie Morris, as the game-winner. The defense has allowed nearly twice as many shots as Fresno State has made with 47 saves between the goalie tandem and the junior from Germany Jessie Reiss picking up both results

+ Assistant coach Wendy Espejel was part of the Mexico under-20 coaching staff at the 2026 FIFA under-20 Women's World Cup in Poland. Mexico finished 0-1-2 in group stage play
