'Eaters Draw with Arizona in Exhibition

IRVINE, Calif. --- The first match of the 2026-27 school year turned out to be a competitive women's soccer exhibition between UC Irvine and Arizona resulting in a 0-0 draw.
UCI used 25 different players in the match including three different keepers to keep the Wildcats scoreless. The Anteaters finished with the edge in possession and corner kicks earned while Arizona edged UCI in shots, 8-7.
The 'Eaters had two of the best chances with shots in the second half going on goal, but former 'Eater Laurynn Ziller impacted the game with a pair of diving saves on shots from Fiona Shin and Olivia Stark to keep the match even. The Wildcats had late chances including a deflected shot that hit the crossbar.
Coach Juniper's side now heads toward their regular season opener next up on Wednesday, August 12 hosting Utah Tech with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff in Anteater Stadium.
