Anteater Newcomer: Mia Rodriguez

| By:
IRVINE, Calif.-- UC Irvine women's soccer began their buildup to the 2025 season in November with their newest group of signings concluding with the final freshman in the class in Mia Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is coming to the Anteaters already knowing someone on the team in fellow newcomer Gianna Costello as both come to UCI from Hart High School. Rodriguez patrolled the midfield right alongside Costello while also playing as a winger and even at times a striker or center back truly showing her versatility. Like Costello, she's been part of the high school squad that never lost a league game in their four years on the winning winning the league title all four times. She built up her scoring from a couple points in her first two seasons to five goals as a junior to taking the reins in her senior season with 12 goals and five assists. She also played in the ECNL like Costello, but for a different club joining Eagles SC in Camarillo.

"I chose UCI after attending an ID camp and being able to connect well with the coaches and falling in love with the campus. Overall UCI's great academics and being able to play on a high level competitive soccer team at the same time is what sold me to the school."
