No. 8 UC Irvine Drop Series Saturday vs. UC San Diego

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball was held scoreless for the first time in over a year in Saturday's 4-0 loss to UC San Diego in Anteater Ballpark.
- UCI drops just its second weekend series of the season now sitting at 33-11 overall, 19-4 in first place in the Big West
- Trevor Hansen was on his game most of the day pitching into the sixth inning allowing three runs on eight hits, but ultimately recorded his first loss of 2025
- Ricky Ojeda picked him up throwing 1.2 scoreless innings, and David Butler allowed an unearned run to keep the game tight
- UCSD rode the backs of Nic Gregson and Spencer Seid for the shutout performance. Gregson went 5.1 innings to earn his second win of the season while Seid went the final 3.2 striking out eight to earn his third save
- UCI managed six hits from six different hitters, but were puzzled all game
- Colin Yeaman had a hit and reached twice while Will Bermudez drew two walks
- Frankie Carney had a triple to leadoff the game, but was out at the plate on a groundball to the infield on the next play
