- UC Irvine fell behind early on a run in the first inning and six unearned second-inning runs falling into a 7-0 hole
- UCI responded right away with a four-run third inning capped by Rowan Felsch's two-run single
- After Texas Tech added an eighth run in their third, UCI put together a three-run fourth inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Jacob McCombs
- The Red Raiders kept building on their lead with runs scored in six of the first seven innings including a four-run seventh to put some separation between the 'Eaters and lead 15-8
- UCI made a last gasp in the ninth inning with four runs and the tying run on deck before the final out and final score of 15-12
- The offense actually out-hit Texas Tech, 17-15
- Jacob McCombs led all 'Eaters with four hits and four RBIs
- Colin Yeaman and Zach Fjelstad had three-hit days and scored two runs
- Felsch and Chase Call each had two hits and two driven in with Call scoring three times
