STANFORD, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer finishes the opening week of their season 1-1 after a 3-0 loss at No. 2 Stanford Sunday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

First blood was drawn by the Cardinal scoring in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead putting home a rebound after an Ashley Naylor save
The 'Eaters held firm into the half trailing by just 1-0 putting 1 of their 2 shots on frame
Stanford's lead doubled to 2-0 on a penalty kick in the 48th minute
The scoring ended in the 75th minute as the Cardinal made their lead 3-0
Naylor picked up five saves in goal while Laurynn Ziller entered late again recording a save in the final nine minutes
UCI's starting lineup remained the same from the first match with 13 Anteaters seeing action off the bench including Gracie Haley and Mirayah Villalpando who each made their season debuts
UCI mustered five shots including two from Chloe Ragon with three turned on frame to Stanford who had 17 with nine on goal
UCI also managed two corners to Stanford's five while both sides drew nine fouls
The 'Eaters are now 1-4 all-time against the Cardinal dropping their first matchup against the program now part of the ACC

UCI heads home for the first time this season with their next match Thursday vs. San Diego before heading up to Washington next Sunday.
