
'Eaters Travel To New York and Virginia For Five Matches

IRVINE, Calif.— UC Irvine heads to the east coast for a spring break trip filled with five dual matches. The Anteaters will play two contests in New York before closing out the tour in Virginia.
Notes
Hofstra
Hofstra comes into the dual match with a 2-6 overall record, 1-1 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Pride have earned wins over Marist (5-2) and conference foe Towson (6-1). Hofstra will play UNC Wilmington for a CAA contest on Friday Mar. 24th before facing the 'Eaters.
Jimena Garbino is 4-4 in singles competition with all eight of her matches played at the No. 1 position. The Pride returns 11 players and has added one freshman to the experienced roster.
Stony Brook
Stony Brook holds a 6-5 record so far in the 2023 campaign and are undefeated, 2-0, in CAA action. The Seawolves conference victories have come against Monmouth (5-2) and Towson (6-0).
UCI is the second of Stony Brook's eight game homestand, first facing UNC Wilmington on Mar. 25. The Seawolves return seven players and signed two freshmen.
Hampton
Hampton enters the weekend with a 5-6 record and are set to face off against Temple, and DIII Virginia Wesleyan prior to meeting with the Anteaters. The Pirates have dropped contests to William and Mary (0-7) and Elon (2-5) in their first year in the CAA but are currently on a two-game win streak.
Freshmen Diana Starodubsteva and Angelina Belnova steer the ship for the Pirates. Starodubsteva is currently a perfect 4-0 in singles competition at the No. 2 position while Belnova is on a two-match win streak at the No. 1 slot and is 4-3 overall.
Norfolk State
Out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Norfolk State comes into the dual match with a 2-12 overall record, earning wins over Coppin State (6-1) and Va. Wesleyan (5-2). The Spartans have dropped close matches (4-3) to William and Mary, Loyola (Md.), and Longwood.
Aleksandra Evdokimova paces NSU with a 6-8 record in No. 1 singles and dominates with teammate Amber Fuller in the first position for doubles.
Longwood
Longwood is set to face Big South foes Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, and Presbyterian as well as North Carolina Central before UC Irvine arrives in town. The Lancers are currently 6-10 on the season and 1-2 in league play. LU swept Radford 7-0 for their first conference win of the year.
Maria Saez holds a 6-6 record in individual play, earning all six of her wins at the No. 2 position. The duo of Sophia Marchetta and Wiktoria Czerny have found success at No. 3 doubles where they are 5-4.
