September 27, 2022 | Women's Golf
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Senior Megan Yang fired a 66 on the final round of the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic to finish second.
Yang carded seven birdies Tuesday to end with a 66, one shy of her own school record of 65 set in 2021. She joins Jane Chin (2008) and Patty Chawalitmetha (2007) as the only other Anteater women's golfers to log a score of 66.
Yang tied her career-best with a second place finish after a three-round total of 206 (69-71-66), the second best 54-hole score in program history. Only Jane Chin had a lower three round total of 203 (68- 66-69) at the 2008 Kent Youel Invitational. Yang recorded 14 birdies and two eagles over the three rounds.
The Anteaters finished in eighth place with a score of 880, posting back-to-back rounds of 293. Nevada captured the team title (832) led by medalist Victoria Gailey's 201 (65-68-68).
Freshman Kiana Briggs was tied for 35th with a score of 223 (72-78-73) followed by sophomore Nicole Zhang who was tied for 41st place with a 227 total (80-59-78). Freshman Jasmine Chen was tied for 51st at 232 (75-81-76) and sophomore Charlotte Ryoo was 56th with a two-day score of 235 (78-75-82).
UCI returns next week at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational Oct. 3-4 at the Tacoma Country Club.
