
UCI Nets Seven Event Wins at UCSB Invitational

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team had seven event wins Friday at the UCSB Invitational.
Jarel Sayles finished ahead of the pack in the 110m hurdles with a personal-record 14.41, while Drew Pickett was second with a lifetime-best 14.48. Josh Farmer added a PR 14.98 to come in fourth.
Miles Duncan had an individual victory in the 800m, clocking in at a season-best 1:53.26. Malcolm Overbaugh also led five 'Eaters in the 200m with a season-best 21.70 for a first-place finish. Ty Sheridan took third in a personal-record 22.04, and Carlo Reyes was fifth (22.22).
In the 400m, Overbaugh came in third (49.55), Sheridan in fourth (49.72) and Eric Parker in fifth (49.94).
In the distance events, Lukas Amare placed sixth in the 5000-meter with a lifetime-best 14:38.63, and AJ Sager established his best 1500m time at 4:06.57.
The Anteaters closed out the meet on the track with their second-straight 4x400 win (3:13.49).
In the field events, Kyle Tsu topped the leaderboard in the discus with a toss of 171-02. Jacob Hawkins wasn't far behind in third (170-08), and Justin Willingham notched a personal-best 165-05 to come in fourth.
UCI went 1-2 in the shot put as Noah Holm claimed the title with a season-best 56-09.5, and Tsu securing runner-up honors at 52-11.25.
Seth Enochs also had an individual victory in the long jump (23-07).
For the second week in a row, Liam Miksic registered a personal-record in the javelin, posting a mark of 196-10 to move up to No. 5 in school history (since 1986). Quincy Stokes contributed a lifetime-best 163-00 in the hammer.
The 'Eaters will take a break for finals before returning to action with a split squad at UCLA's Jim Bush Legends Invitational (March 23) and Bob Larsen Invitational (March 25), the Texas Relays (March 24-26) and the UCR Spring Track Classic (March 25-26).
