Mitch Holland Joins Staff as Volunteer Assistant

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball completes its coaching staff with a familiar face in Mitch Holland as volunteer assistant coach.
"We could not be more excited to have Mitch back on staff," said head coach Ben Orloff. "His combination of work ethic and care level is as impressive as anyone you could meet. He is going to have a huge impact on our program."
Holland was an Anteater in 2015 and 2016 bringing home All-Big West honors in each as a first baseman. Holland played over 50 games in each season hitting .312 over his career that included 29 doubles, 7 home runs, and 67 RBIs
Since earning his political science degree, Holland became active in coaching starting as a graduate assistant for head coach Mike Gillespie at UCI in 2017. Mitch briefly coached that summer for the Rochester Ridgemen in the New York Collegiate Baseball League before returning to Southern California.
Holland joined the high school level at nearby JSerra High School teaching economics and coaching with their baseball team in 2017-18. The next year he would coach at Saddleback Junior College working with infielders and hitters.
Holland fills out the staff under second year head coach Ben Orloff that includes assistant Daniel Bibona and J.T. Bloodworth and director of operations Bryce Stowell.
