College Baseball Hall of Fame National Pitcher of the Year Semifinalists
LUBBOCK, Tex. --- The sophomore starter has shone in 2019 receiving national attention Wednesday as 1 of 15 semifinalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Pitcher of the Year award.
Denholm is 8-3 through 13 appearances, 12 starts, in 2019 with a 1.74 ERA and a conference-best two complete games. Denholm's WHIP of 0.80 is the third-best in the nation to go with his ERA, 13th in the NCAA, and having allowing 5.23 hits per nine innings, best in the Big West and 11th nationally.
He was part of his fourth shutout on Saturday of which Anteater pitching has thrown eight this year, second-most in the country, and he struck out 10 batters, something he's done twice this year, to match a career high and give him the second-most in the Big West at 78.
College Baseball Hall of Fame recognizes 15 of the nation's best pitchers as semifinalists with Denholm as the only Big West player represented among four West Coast arms. Denholm's teammate, Andre Pallante, was 1 of 5 finalists for the award in 2018, and each were on the midseason watch list released in April. Denholm became the fourth Anteater pitcher to win his third Big West Pitcher of the Week honor last week helping set program records for most weekly awards in a season overall and for pitchers.
The list of finalists will be revealed in at the end of the regular season with the winner announced over the summer
