ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team
IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine starting pitcher Andre Pallante has been selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America First Team the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Saturday.
Pallante's All-America award comes on the heels of his first-team All-West Region selection. It is the second-straight year the Anteaters have produced an ABCA/Rawlings first-team All-American with Keston Hiura earning the honor in 2017.
This marks Pallante's fifth All-America nod of 2018 as he was also recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (first team), Perfect Game (second team), DIBaseball.com (third team) and Baseball America (third team).
Pallante's postseason accolades come following a standout sophomore campaign in which he finished with a 10-1 record and a 1.60 ERA, which ranks second in school history, first in the Big West and sixth in the nation. Over 101.1 innings pitched, Pallante racked up 115 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .206 batting average.
Pallante was also one of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame's five finalists for Pitcher of the Year. In addition, the first-team All-Big West selection will be competing with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team this summer.
