ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams
IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine starting pitcher Andre Pallante has been named an All-American by the NCBWA (first team), Perfect Game (second team) and DIBaseball.com (third team), while he was also an ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region First Team selection.
With his first-team all-region nod, Pallante is automatically nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors, which will be announced on Saturday, June 16. This is the second-straight year the Anteaters have landed an All-West Region selection as Keston Hiura was recognized in 2017. Overall, the 'Eaters have been represented 17 times on the All-West Region squad.
Pallante's postseason accolades come following a standout sophomore campaign in which he finished with a 10-1 record and a 1.60 ERA, which ranks second in school history, first in the Big West and sixth in the nation. Over 101.1 innings pitched, Pallante racked up 115 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .206 batting average.
Back in May, the San Clemente native also garnered third-team All-America honors from Baseball America and was named one of five finalists for National Pitcher of the Year. In addition, Pallante, who was a first-team All-Big West selection, will be competing with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team this summer.
