August 20, 2017 | Baseball
The most prestigious of the summer leagues, the Cape Cod League, in Northeast was the home of two freshman 'Eaters - Christian Koss and Andre Pallante. Koss' Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox and Pallante's Chatham Anglers each reached the CCBL playoffs exiting in the first round. UCI had a third member of the league in Cameron Bishop before he signing with the Baltimore Orioles.

The West Coast League in the Pacific Northwest housed the most Anteaters during the summer months. Miles Glazier and Cole Spear of the Corvallis Knights were the only squad to make the playoffs, and they rode that to a championship.

Three others Anteaters fit in as solo members of other leagues. Devin Pettengill batted .333 for the Marysvill Gold Sox who finished fifth in the Great West League. Newcomer Brendan Brooks helped the OC Surf repeat as Sunset Baseball League champions hitting .350 while putting up a 2.10 ERA on the mound. Jake Hazard was the lone representative for the independent Alaska Goldpanners, a team dripping with history that includes their annual "Midnight Sun" games that feature games played at midnight in the daylight.
