23 'Eaters continue play into the Summer months
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's baseball team has concluded the 2017 season, and now the summer leagues begin to get going with a considerable amount of players joining leagues on each coast and places in-between.
There will be a strong contingent of three Anteaters heading east to the Cape Cod League. The pitching pair of junior Cameron Bishop and freshman Andre Pallante will be a part of the Chatham Anglers while freshman infielder Christian Koss lands with Yarmouth-Dennis where he will look to defend the title they took home last year with the help of Calvin Faucher.
Three current Anteaters head to the Northwoods League as the big bats of junior Ryan Fitzpatrick and redshirt Konnor Zickefoose fill up the lineup for Rochester, and freshman outfielder Mikey Filia joins them with Green Bay where the lone Northwoods Anteater called home last summer in Parker Coss.
The largest allotment of 'Eaters will head north to the West Coast League where two players each will be sent to the Corvallis Knights, Walla Walla Sweets, and Wenatchee Apple Sox. Pitchers Miles Glazier and Cole Spear man the staff of the Knights who took home the league title in 2016 with the help of Bishop and Cole Kreuter. Matt Reitano returns to the Apple Sox where he played last summer and brings freshman Adrian Damla with him. Ryan Johnston also returns to his 2016 stomping grounds of Walla Walla with teammate Dylan Riddle fully recovered from his injury.
Other Anteaters will stay in the state of California in leagues such as the California Collegiate League, and Great West League. Devin Pettengill heads back to his roots in the GWL for the Marysville Gold Sox. Five 'Eaters stay local in the CCL with Chris Vargas linking up with the So Cal Catch while Alonzo Garcia will get back on the mound this summer with the Conejo Oaks. The OC Riptide of the CCL will be home for Kaz Akamatsu over the summer. Dailin Lee will join the Academy Barons. Jake Hazard will be in and out of California as well as a member of the Alaska Goldpanners.

Freshman pitcher and infielder Brendan Brooks heads to the OC Surf of the Sunset Baseball League.
