Calvin Faucher Finishes Day Two with 10th Round Selection in MLB Draft

The senior pitcher joins the Minnesota Twins
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's lone second day selection in the Major League Baseball draft came in the form of closer Calvin Faucher.
The senior went in the 10th round, 286th overall to the Minnesota Twins. As a junior transfer, Faucher appeared 51 times over two years for the Anteaters going 6-6 with a 2.77 ERA, and became the fourth pitcher in program history to record 20 saves over his career which included 12 in 2017.
Faucher is the sixth Anteater to be taken by the Twins joining greats Matt Summers, Kyle Necke, Blair Erickson, Bob Perry, and Carson Carroll joining Erickson as 10th rounders. Other 10th-rounders from the Anteaters include Ken Whitworth, Larry Dotson, and Brady Anderson.
The 2017 MLB Draft concludes on Wednesday as it starts at 9:00 a.m. PT cycling through the last 30 rounds of the draft.
