Keston Hiura ends the season with big numbers and weekly honor
IRVINE, Calif. – For a second consecutive week Keston Hiura has been named Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the Week.
In a week where UCI went 3-1, defeating UCLA and taking the series against UC Davis, Hiura hit .737, going 14-for-19 over the four games with seven RBI.
His 14-hit week bumped his season average to .442, which led the nation. The junior's average is the highest in a season in UC Irvine history, joining Tom Spence, .403 in 1971, and Mike Nagle, .402 in 1981, as the only Anteaters to hit .400 in a season.
Hiura doubled in each game to become the Anteaters' career leader with 54. He finished 2017 with 24 doubles tying Taylor Holiday for the most in a season.
