
'Eaters Set Five PRs Saturday at Steve Scott Invite

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team wrapped up action at the Steve Scott Invitational Saturday at Anteater Stadium.
Brandon Burns, Justin Johnson, Logan Lyght, and Brendan Clark kicked off action on the track with a win in the 4x100 relay. The quartet, which broke the school record at 39.84 back in March, clocked in at 40.07 seconds.
Johnson was the top collegiate finisher, and second overall in a 100m field of 54. He ran a personal-record 10.40, moving up six spots to No. 2 in program history.
Clark cracked UCI's top-10 in the 400m as his lifetime-best 47.14 ranks ninth. Clark was the runner-up, while leading all collegiate athletes in the race.
Burns added a wind-aided personal-best 21.12 in the 200m. He placed third out of 50.
Lyght was the runner-up in the 110m hurdles (14.20), while AJ Taylor took fourth (14.43).
Kenechukwu Okonkwo opened the triple jump competition with a season-best 15.65 meters (51-4.25). Okonkwo's mark stood as his best of the meet and was good for second overall. Colin Green was also sixth at 14.65m (48-0.75).
Joe Duggan led the way in the discus with a fourth-place showing. On his sixth and final attempt, Duggan unleashed a personal-record 56.62m (185-9). His mark ranks fifth in school history. Chimobi Onye was sixth with a PR 53.30m (174-10).
Onye and Duggan added top-six performances in the shot put. Onye was fifth overall at 16.80 meters (55-1.5), and Duggan came in sixth at 16.76m (55-0.75).
UC Irvine will be back in action at the Big West Championships, May 15-16, in Long Beach.
