Anteaters Start Bruin Wave Invitational In Eighth Place

VALENCIA, Calif. – After two rounds, UC Irvine is in a tie for eighth place at the Bruin Wave Invitational held at the Valencia Country Club Monday.
The Anteaters shot a 610 (308-302) over 36 holes, while No. 1 ranked Stanford leads the tournament field with a score of 561 (281-280).
Sophomore Katelyn Kong and Alona Avery both had rounds of 76 and 74 (150) and are tied for 24th place. Graduate student Jenny Chang is tied for 34th with a two-round total of 153 (76-77). Chang is tied for second among tournament participants in pars with 26. On the day, the Anteaters recorded 20 birdies led by Kong with six, followed by Avery with five.
Freshman Chelsie Chin is tied for 56th with a score of 157 (80-77), while senior Kiana Briggs is tied for 64th at 161 (82-79).
The Anteaters will play the final round tomorrow beginning at 7:30 a.m.
