The Anteaters return to the postseason for the first time since 2021 and second time under head coach
Ben Orloff. UCI finished the regular season with a record of 43-12 tying the program's most wins in the regular season, and at 22-8 finished second in the Big West. It is the 10th postseason appearance for UCI as a Division I program, eighth as an at-large, and 15th overall.Â
Joining the 'Eaters over the weekend at Corvallis are the hosts, Oregon State, as a No. 15 national seed, American Athletic Conference tournament champion Tulane, and UCI's first round opponent from the Southland Conference, Nicholls. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Anteaters and Colonels to open the regional. UC Irvine was part of the Corvallis Regional in 2014 and all-time have faced the Beavers 11 times with a 6-5 record including regular season series as recent as 2021 and 2022. The 'Eaters and Tulane have met this year in a trip to Tulane following a trip by the Green Wave to Irvine in 2023. The programs have met 12 times in their histories with UCI holding a 10-2 advantage.
Play begins Friday, May 31 as UC Irvine takes on Nicholls to start the regional off. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m at Goss Stadium in Corvallis, Ore. All games throughout the weekend will be shown on ESPN+Â along with radio broadcasts on KUCI 88.9 FM with Mark Roberts.
