Anteater Newcomer: Clara Samson

IRVINE, Calif.-- UC Irvine women's soccer has brought on some transfers from the collegiate level, and now the first-year players are introduced with the first Clara Samson.
 
Samson comes from Kendal, England joining the 'Eaters who rostered five international student-athletes a year ago including English nationals, Sophie Gillies and Emilie Castagna, along with their head coach, Scott Juniper.

Samson played as a winger at Kirkbie Kendal School where she was her team's captain her junior and senior years. On the club circuit, she began with Blackburn Rovers where she was named their Player of the Season on two occasions before joining on with Manchester City. She got run with the first team even during the 2022 preseason.

"International players have changed our locker room culture in amazing ways over the last few years and Clara will continue that tradition," head coach Scott Juniper his support. "Clara is a natural winger who can also play through the middle. She is an explosive forward with a UCI work ethic and 'team first' approach to the game. Manchester City are leaders in women's soccer development and Clara has built an exceptional foundation in their academy. We are excited to guide Clara through the next phase of her career."
