Anteaters Sit In Sixth At Valley Invitational

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – UC Irvine is tied for sixth after the first day of the Valley Invitational held at the Bakersfield Country Club.

The Anteaters are tied with fellow Big West member UC Riverside with a score of 611 (306-305). UCI posted 19 birdies, the fourth most among tournament teams.

Freshman Jasmine Chen leads the Anteaters with a two-round total of 150. She is tied for 11th after a one over par 73 on the first round that included four birdies. Senior Megan Yang rebounded after a first round of 80 to match Chen with a team-low 73 on the second and is tied for 24th (153) overall.

Sophomore Nicole Zhang is tied for 37th at 156 (81-75), while freshman Kiana Briggs is tied for 43rd (157-77-80) and sophomore Charlotte Ryoo is tied for 56th (161-76-85).

Zhang is second in Par 3 scoring (-2) and Chen is tied for third on Par 5s (-2).

The tournament concludes with 18 holes tomorrow beginning with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
