Anteaters Top UC Riverside for First Big West Win

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer finally got in the Big West win column with a 1-0 victory at UC Riverside and UCR Soccer Stadium Thursday night.

The night's only goal came in the second half with UC Irvine (5-3-4, 1-0-3) awarded a penalty kick in the 56th minute. A foul in the box put Desiree Mendoza on the spot, and she didn't miss to put the 'Eaters up 1-0.

The Anteaters did not let off the gas down the stretch adding to their shot total with 10 in the second half alone finishing with a 17-7 shot advantage on the evening. Glo Hinojosa made all her noise in the first half saving three shots and not seeing any shots on frame in the second 45 as UCI tops UC Riverside (2-3-6, 0-1-2) to go unbeaten in the last four matchups in the series.
