IRVINE, Calif. --- On a Thursday night Senior Night Celebration, Anteater women's soccer seniors accounted for the winning plays in Anteater Stadium to collect a much-needed 1-0 victory over CSUN.
The match turned in the first minute of the second half after a scoreless opening 45 minutes. Just 27 seconds in, a ball bounded toward the Matador touchline with
Alyssa Moore and CSUN keeper Hayden Mauldin coming together leaving Mauldin down on the field. She came off momentarily while Moore was issued a caution, but Mauldin gave the thumbs up waving off the substitute keeper and play resumed.
Twenty seconds later, the Anteaters (6-3-6, 2-0-5) were back on the attack and pushed across a goal. It was
Alyssa Moore back on the scene as she received a perfectly-threaded through ball from
Aislynn Crowder gently redirecting it around Mauldin and rolling it inside the right post for the lead 47 seconds into the half.
Â
CSUN (2-13-1, 0-6-1) continued to patrol for an equalizer evening the shot total on the match with six second half attempts including ringing the crossbar late and forcing
Glo Hinojosa to make six saves on the night, but the Anteater defense once again was up to the task with another shutout and a second Big West win.
