August 25, 2021 | Women's Golf
The UC Irvine women's golf team will play eight familiar tournaments and one new event on its 2021-22 schedule.
The Anteaters only played in the spring last season and are looking forward to playing a full slate of tournaments.
"I am so grateful that we were able to play last spring," head coach Julie Brooks said. "The team made a great run at the Big West title and I hope we can carry that momentum into this season."
UCI will kick off the year at the Coeur d' Alene Resort Collegiate hosted by Gonzaga Sept. 19-21 then head to the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational Oct. 4-6.
UCI heads to the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational Oct. 11-12. The Anteaters last played in Tacoma in 2017.
Rounding out October, UCI will travel to the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on the 25-27. UCI will make a return after last playing in 2014.
The spring slate kicks off with the lone new tournament in the lineup. New Big West member CS Bakersfield along with Cal Poly will host the Valley Invitational Feb. 7-8.
The Show at Spanish Trail is a familiar stop in Las Vegas with a new name. The event will be held Feb. 14-15 at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
The Gunrock Invitational comes next on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 followed by the Fresno State Classic Mar. 21-22.
The Big West Championships will be contested on Apr. 10-12 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. At the 2021 Championship, UCI shot a school record 282 on the first day.
"I am so proud of how they exceled at online learning however it will be great to have everyone back on campus, continuing their college experience," Brooks ended. "We will be playing some great courses this season, ones that will help us prepare for the conference championship at San Luis Obispo Country Club. With only two seniors, this is a young team but one with a lot of depth and experience so I am excited to get started and see what we can do."
UCI returns all but two players from the 2021 roster.
