AALBORG, Denmark --- Women's soccer standout Jessica Miclat has found a professional club signing with AaB Kvinder of Elitedivisionen in Denmark's top flight.

Miclat spoke to Mia Montayre of the Tiebreaker Times, a publication promoting Philippines sports journalism, regarding her emotions around the opportunity.

"I was in shock, to be honest,. I don't think it really hit me until I was on a plane going over England on my way to Denmark. But it happened, and I am so grateful and happy to begin my professional career," Miclat told Tiebreaker Times. "I feel blessed because it had been difficult. I had talks with teams from Spain, Belgium, Iceland, and Norway, but the pandemic made everything super difficult. At some point during the entire process, I was discourage, but I tried to stay positive and continued training every day until an opportunity presented itself."

Miclat played 73 matches starting 68 times for UC Irvine from 2016-19 scoring six times and assisting on seven goals while earning All-Big West First Team honors. She also participated with the Philippines National Team competing in the 2018 Women's Asian Cup in Jordan playing in four matches.

She now joins AaB Kvinder from the city of Aalborg, Denmark who recently was promoted for the first time to Denmark's highest division, Elitedivisionen. The team is still searching for its first win this season as it fights to remain in the top flight, but Miclat is still excited to get going in the team's next match on March 5.

"It feels good and surreal to be signed and become a professional soccer player. It's something I've dreamed of since I was little. To see it become a reality with all the hard work and time I put into honing my craft is a dream come true," she expressed. "I expect to incorporate my style of play and techniques, and bring my hard work ethic to the team to help win some matches and stay in the top division in Denmark."
