
Men's Track & Field Adds Seven for 2019-20

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's track & field/cross country head coach Jeff Perkins has announced the addition of seven student-athletes for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
"We are excited to have such a diverse class coming in to contribute to the overall success of our team," Perkins said. "Our coaching staff understands the value of high level, focused individuals and this class highlights that. We searched high and low for the best athletes across the region and we found many that we feel will be immediate contributors to us reaching our goals as a program."
Oluwatobi "Tobi" Adegoke // Freshman // Hurdles & Jumps // Los Osos HS
Tobi Adegoke lettered at Los Osos High School where he competed in the hurdles and jumps. As a senior, Adegoke won the long jump at the CIF-Southern Section Finals and went on to place 10th overall at the CIF State Championships. He also advanced to the state meet in the 300m hurdles. In addition, Adegoke claimed the Baseline League title in the 110m hurdles, while coming in second in the long jump and third in the 300H.

Richard Atthowe // Junior // Throws // Diablo Valley College
Richard Atthowe competed two years at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. He was the 2019 Big 8 Conference champion in the javelin with a personal-record 152-06, and went on to place fifth at the Nor Cal Championships. Atthowe graduated from Bishop O'Dowd High School in 2016. He was a CIF North Coast Championship qualifier in the shot put and discus, while finishing third in both events at the West Alameda County Conference Finals.

Jake Burns // Freshman // Sprints // Trabuco Hills HS
Jake Burns signed a National Letter of Intent back in November. In his senior campaign at Trabuco Hills High School, Burns defended his South Coast League titles in the 100m and 200m. He also advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Division I Finals in both events for the second year in a row. Burns placed fourth in the 200m and eighth in the 100m. He was also a member of the Mustangs' 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that finished fourth at the CIF State Championships.

Jose Cisneros // Freshman // Throws // Downey HS
Jose Cisneros was a two-time CIF-Southern Section Division I qualifier in the shot put and discus at Downey High School. As a senior, he was the San Gabriel Valley League champion in the discus and runner-up in the shot put. Cisneros combined for nine individual victories on the year, including a sweep of the discus (169-07) and shot put (50-07.5) at the Trabuco Hills Invitational where he recorded personal bests in both events.

Josh Farmer // Sophomore // Decathlon // Colorado
Josh Farmer signed with Colorado out of high school and competed for the Buffs during the 2018-19 season. He capped a standout freshman campaign with a podium finish in the decathlon (3rd) at the Pac-12 Championships where he compiled a personal-record 7,089 points. During that meet, Farmer established lifetime-bests of 11.10 in the 100m, 15.57w in the 110m hurdles, 163-01 in the javelin and 13-09.25 in the pole vault.
Farmer prepped at Rancho Bernardo High School where he won the decathlon at the 2018 Arcadia Invitational and set the San Diego Section all-time record with 6,963 points. He was a two-time state champion, while placing fourth at the 2017 USATF Junior Olympics. Farmer was named the Palomar Field Athlete of the Year as a senior, and was a three-time San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic selection.

Nicholas Krohn // Redshirt Freshman // Distance // Valencia HS
Nicholas Krohn attended UCLA during the 2018-19 academic year but did not compete for the Bruins and will have four years of eligibility remaining. Krohn returns to Orange County as he prepped at Valencia High School in Placentia. He was the Empire League champion in the 800m and runner-up in the 1600m, while qualifying for the CIF-Southern Section Division I meet in both events as a senior. Krohn was also a member of the cross country team where he was a 2017 CIF-SS finalist.

Drew Pickett // Freshman // Hurdles // Paramount HS
Drew Pickett lettered at Paramount High School where he was the San Gabriel Valley League champion in the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 4x100 and 4x400 as a senior. He was a CIF-Southern Section finalist in all four events and went on to finish seventh in the 110H at the CIF-SS Masters Meet. Pickett also had SGVL podium finishes in the 110H, 300H and 4x400 in 2018.
