
'Eaters Travel to Sacramento for NCAA West Prelims

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team will send four student-athletes to Sacramento for the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Hornet Stadium, May 23-25.
Senior Asa Allen is making a repeat appearance in the 110m hurdles field at the NCAA West Prelims, while sophomore Seth Enochs (Long Jump), junior Jack Pickard (Javelin) and redshirt freshman Kyle Tsu (Shot Put) are set for their first regional meet.
The top-12 finishers in each event will punch their ticket to Austin, Texas, for the NCAA Championships, June 5-8.
STORYLINES
• Seth Enochs is coming off a runner-up finish in the long jump at the Big West Championships with a wind-aided personal-record 25-04.
• On April 26, he established a wind-legal lifetime-best 25-00.75 which ranks fourth in program history.
• Jack Pickard made a statement in his UCI debut at the Big West Challenge on April 5 where he won the javelin.
• Pickard unleashed a personal-record 221-0, establishing a new javelin school record (since 1986).
• He is the Anteaters' first-ever NCAA West Prelim qualifier in the men's javelin since the regional meet started in 2003.
• Kyle Tsu notched a season-best 57-11.25 in the shot put, putting him at No. 3 on the program's all-time charts.
• Asa Allen ran a UC Irvine personal-best 14.18 in the 110m hurdles at the conference championships.

• Allen qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the 110m hurdles for the second year in a row.
• He established a qualifying mark and UCI career-best 14.18 in the finals of the Big West Championships (5th).
• That moved him up to No. 7 in school history and No. 44 in the West Region.
• Allen has seven top-10 finishes in eight 110H races this year.
• He was the runner-up at the UCI Spring Break Collegiate Classic and Big West Challenge.
• In 2018, Allen was an All-Big West performer in the 110H (3rd) and 4x100 relay (2nd).
• He previously spent two years at Merritt College where he was a two-time state finalist and conference champion.
• Allen ran a personal-record 13.99 to place second at the 2017 CCCAA State Championships.
SETH ENOCHS // Long Jump // Sophomore // Yucca Valley, Calif.
• Enochs will be making his first appearance at the NCAA West Prelims as the 15th seed in the long jump.
• He is coming off a runner-up showing at the Big West Championships where he notched a wind-aided PR 25-04.
• That mark ranks second in the Big West, 15th in the West Region and 35th in all of NCAA Division I this season.
• It was the second-straight meet in which he reached 25 feet.
• He also registered a wind-legal best of 25-00.75 at the Steve Scott Invitational on April 26.
• That was the best jump by an Anteater since 1984 and put him at No. 4 in school history.
• In addition, Enochs earned UC Irvine's first Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week award since 2015 for his effort.
• Enochs, who is 20 years old, was born after each of the other top-10 marks in program history were established.
• The Yucca Valley, Calif., native opened the campaign with back-to-back wins in the long jump.

• Pickard, a junior transfer from Diablo Valley College, is seeded 24th in the javelin.
• The Concord, Calif., native is UCI's first regional qualifier in the men's javelin since the inception of the meet in 2003.
• He turned heads in his UC Irvine debut, winning the event at the Big West Challenge (April 5) with a PR 221-0.
• Pickard led wire-to-wire in the meet against conference foes, opening with a then lifetime-best 194-4.
• He saw an improvement of 8 feet, 4 inches on his next toss before hitting 221-0 on his fourth and final attempt.
• His PR was a school record in the new javelin, and was the best mark by an 'Eater since 1984.
• A two-time junior college state finalist, Pickard ranks first in the Big West, 25th in the West Region and 44th in the nation.
• He has a trio of top-three showings in four meets this year, including a podium finish at the Big West Championships.
KYLE TSU // Shot Put // Redshirt Freshman // Huntington Beach, Calif.
• Tsu established a regional qualifying mark of 57-11.25 in the shot put at the Big West Challenge.
• He is the Anteaters' first NCAA West Prelim qualifier in the men's shot put since Mason Miller (2013-15).
• After sitting out the 2018 campaign with an injury, he made his long-awaited collegiate debut at the Beach Opener.
• On a rainy Saturday in Long Beach, he claimed runner-up honors with a toss of 51-00.25.
• Just two weeks later, he went for a then season-best 55-02.75 to crack UCI's all-time top-10, coming in at No. 8.
• He went on to climb the charts to third in program history with his season best of 57-11.25.
• Tsu earned All-Big West honors with a third-place finish at the conference championships (57-10.5).
• The redshirt freshman from Huntington Beach has placed among the top-eight in all but one of his shot put competitions.
