STANFORD, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's water polo returned to the pool Monday afternoon at Avery Aquatics Center falling to the second-ranked Cardinal, 16-7.

First Period
UC Irvine heads back down the coast to visit CSUN on Saturday, March 30. Both schools are looking for their first conference win in the match that begins at 12:00 p.m.

- Megan Falcon registered her first hat trick of the season scoring the 'Eaters' first three goals giving her 16 on the year
- Morgan Jones stopped six shots on the afternoon with her best stretch coming in the second quarter with three saves to keep the 'Eaters within striking distance
- Tara Prentice, Mary Brooks, Kayleigh Schultz, and Jessica Lynch all added a goal with Prentice leading the way with two steals as well
- Schultz and Lynch each recorded a steal while Brooks was 2-for-2 on sprints
- The 'Eaters remain winless all-time against the Cardinal
- Makenzie Fischer led the Cardinal scoring with six goals. Aria Fischer added a hat trick. Emalia Eichelberger had nine of the 10 Stanford saves in net
- The match was broadcasted over the Pac-12 Network
First Period
- Megan Falcon put the Anteaters on the board to start all scoring with a goal 1:26 into the match
- Stanford rolled three straight goals in to lead 3-1 with 2:41 left in the period
- Falcon netted a second goal with 1:15 left in the period while the Cardinal added one last strike to end the period with a 4-2 lead
- The Anteaters were shutout in the second period, however Morgan Jones did pick up three saves
- The Cardinal doubled their lead scoring four times led by Mackenzie Fischer who had two goals each in the first two period charging to an 8-2 halftime advantage
- The Anteaters found their rhythm again with their best offensive period scoring four times
- Falcon completed her hat trick 30 seconds into the quarter to start all scoring in the half
- Stanford scored four of the next five goals with Mary Brooks fitting one in the midst of that with her only strike of the game 3:30 into the period
- The 'Eaters poured in back-to-back goals from Kayleigh Schultz and Jessica Lynch in the span of 53 seconds to tighten the match back to a 12-6 Stanford led with 2:11 left in the third
- The Cardinal put the lead back to eight scoring twice late in the period for a six-goal output and a 14-6 lead heading to the fourth
- The fourth period saw just three goals in it and none until the 4:56 mark from the Cardinal. Tara Prentice answered 27 seconds later for the 'Eaters seventh and final goal of the afternoon
- Stanford put another home late for the 16-7 final
