Kelsey Texeira Ends Career With Buffalo Wild Wings Honor

IRVINE, Calif. -- Fifth-year senior Kelsey Texeira is this week's Buffalo Wild Wings Athlete of the Week after her performance in the Big West Tournament.
After earning the No. 2 seed in the Big West Tournament, UCI took on Cal State Fullerton in the semifinals with Texeira scoring in the 39th minute to tie things up at 1-1 after the 'Eaters were down in the first half. The goal was the fourth of the season and her career. Although it wasn't a game-winner, it allowed the team to go into overtime and win a penalty shootout 4-2. With the semifinal win, the Anteaters moved onto the Big West Tournament Final for the first time since 2011.
Texeira was named a first-team All-Big West honoree after tallying four goals and three assists this season. It was a career-high nine points. Along with her recognition, six more Anteaters earned All-Big West recognition, which marked the third year head coach Scott Juniper posted at least three first-team members. The 'Eaters finished the season 13-7-2, which was the most wins for the program since 2011 and the sixth season all-time.
