Anteaters Fall in Big West Tennis Final

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. --- UCI women's tennis had its 20-match win streak snapped in the Big West final with a loss to LBSU, 4-1, Sunday morning at Indian Wells Tennis Garden
Doubles came down to the No. 1 matchup where LBSU (21-3, 8-1) overcame the 77th-ranked duo of Franziska Goettsching and Kristina Smith to score the doubles point.
The 49ers took an early singles lead as well with wins at Nos. 4 and 5. Kristina Smith was able to get a straight set win to make it 3-1.
The final three singles matches came down to a third set with the 49ers clinching it on court three.
This final was the Anteaters 11th in the last 15 years. The 'Eaters and 49ers have met in the final each of the last six seasons.
UCI (22-4, 9-0) now awaits its fate in terms of the NCAA Tournament. The 31st ranked Anteaters look for its first appearance since 2009. The selection show can be seen online at NCAA.com on Tuesday, April 30 at 2:30 p.m.
