Senior Salute: Devon Delarosa and Dana Sanderlin

Box Score

IRVINE, Calif. --- You can't mention UCI women's soccer without the two players that have literally played the most for the program in Devon Delarosa and Dana Sanderlin

Delarosa has been a mainstay in the Anteater lineup since day one playing in 81 career matches. Along with her consistency has been her productivity she brought to the program in her first two seasons with 8 goals and 8 assists total. Her masterful two-goal performance to lift UCI to its first ever NCAA Tournament victory in 2010 over Arizona State will forever be a significant landmark carved into UCI women's soccer history. In her 81 games, she has totaled 8 goals, 10 assists, and 2 game-winning goals.

Coach Juniper is very aware of Devon's contributions stating, "Devon is one of the most consistent players we have ever had. She strives to be the very best she can be in everything she does. Even this week, which is the final week of the regular season for her senior year, she has requested time with the staff to refine certain aspects of her game. Devon's incredible contribution to this team is not easily quantified, however, the heroic two-goal display against ASU in the our first ever NCAA game in UC Irvine history has carved her out a special piece of Anteater Soccer history."

She has definitely made a mark on the program just like she will in her future endeavors. Her off-the-field contributions rival those on the pitch in which she has devoted much of her time to the athletic department in marketing as well as being a 2011-12 UCI Scholar-Athlete as a sociology major and education minor. She will springboard from soccer into a pursuit of her teaching credential and focus on special education.

It's almost impossible to be any more consistent than Devon, but Dana Sanderlin has done that playing in 82 matches. She was named Second Team All-Big West and Third Team All-West Region as a freshman when she scored 6 goals and added 4 assists. Over her career, she has scored 14 goals, assisted on 14 goals (the 7th most in UCI history), scored 4 game-winning goals, and netted 42 points (the 12th most in program history).

Coach Juniper hasn't lost sight of that, "Dana has played almost every single game of her four year career. The elite level of determination, work ethic, and focus that this level of consistency requires is off the charts. Dana sets the bar high at practice every day, inspires her teammates, and is an exemplary role model for the young players who look up to her. This kind of impact lives on in a program for a long, long time. There is only a short amount of time left in her illustrious career, but Dana still has a couple of pages of history to write yet."

Her status as an exemplary role model and being a force that raised the bar for UCI women's soccer will speak for itself. Her voice has also continued off the field where she has served the community in Athletes in Action and at Rock Harbor Church as well as with Goals For Wells. As a student, she was named a 2011-12 UCI Scholar-Athlete. Dana is driving towards her sociology degree while minoring in education, and plans to attend graduate school to study speech pathology.
