'Eaters, Waves Clash Friday Night in Irvine

'EATERS, WAVES MEET FRIDAY NIGHT: Seventh-ranked UC Irvine hosts No. 8 Pepperdine in a key Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Friday night at 7:00 at Anteater Pool.
The 'Eaters are 12-7 overall and 0-2 in the MPSF while the Waves are 8-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Coach Marc Hunt's UCI squad, 5-1 at home this season, has won four of its last six games overall entering Friday night's game.
Following the Pepperdine contest, the 'Eaters have a 15-day break from competition before traveling to Pacific Oct. 29.
UCI'S SCORING LEADERS: Sophomore Mitch Wise leads UCI in scoring with 52 goals and he ranks second in the MPSF at 2.74 goals per game.
Senior Trent Baxter has scored 33 goals, junior Nick Pfeil 31, senior Max Parrague 21 and redshirt freshman Jacob Mourer 20.
Senior Sam Figueroa and redshirt freshman Alan Robertson have scored 18 goals apiece, juniors Winston Newland 11 and Brian Pickford have 11 each, and redshirt freshman Kyle Kittlitz has 10 goals to complete UCI's double-digit scorers.
IN GOAL: Redshirt freshman Michael Bailey has 72 saves and ranks first in the MPSF at 11.08 saves per game. Junior Jimmy Friedrich has 82 saves and sophomore Alex Kazmier 47.
