He had four goals in 2010 with one each in four separate games....scored nine goals in 2009 with a high of two in a win over UC Santa Barbara (10/17/09)....had seven goals in 2008, recording one each in seven different games...was a redshirt with the UCI program in the 2007 season...twice earned first team All-Tri-County Athlete League honors...MVP at Salinas High School...earned second team All-Central Coast Section recognition...also competed in swimming, diving and tennis...named to the 2008 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team...son of former UCI All-American, Hall of Fame member and Olympic silver medalist Gary Figueroa...grandson (by his mother Margaret) of UCI Coach Emeritus Ted Newland...majoring in political science..he has earned UCI Scholar-Athlete in the past three years and MPSF All-Academic team honors the past two years...also received All-Academic distinction from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.
