
Four 'Eaters Qualify for NCAA West First Round

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's track & field will send four student-athletes to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the NCAA West First Round, May 27-30.
Senior Kenechukwu Okonkwo will be making his third consecutive NCAA appearance. Okonkwo, who won the Big West men's triple jump title this past weekend, is seeded 33rd with a season-best 15.65 meters (51-4.25). He currently ranks second in school history with a personal-record 15.83m (51-11.25) that he established last year.
Sophomore Justin Johnson is an NCAA qualifier in the 200m for the second year in a row. Johnson is seeded 31st with a lifetime-best 20.53 that he set in a runner-up finish at the Big West Championships last weekend. His time ranks second in program history.
Graduate transfers Joe Duggan and Darrin Campbell will be heading to the NCAA West First Round in their first season at UCI. Duggan qualified in the discus with a personal-best 56.62m (51-4.25), while Campbell made the field of 48 in the javelin with a season-best 64.24m (210-9).
The top-12 finishers at next week's regional meet will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 10-13.
