LAHAINA, Hawaii – UC Irvine finished sixth at the Big West Championship held at the Kaanapali Golf Resort.
The Anteaters had their best round Tuesday with a score of 289 and finished with a three-day total of 879 (295-295-289) for sixth place. Cal Poly won the team title (866) and Long Beach State's Madison Lee claimed medalist honors (208).
Graduate student
Jenny Chang fired four birdies within five holes to card a two-under par 70 and moved into a tie for 10
th place with a 54-hole score of 218. It was her second Top 10 finish of the season.
Sophomore
Alona Avery recorded back-to-back rounds of even par 72 and finished in 13
th place with a score of 219 (75-72-72). Sophomore
Katelyn Kong ended in a tie for 21
st at 223 (70-73-80), while senior
Kiana Briggs shaved three strokes off her previous scores and was tied for 24
th with a three-round total of 225 (76-76-73). Sophomore
Katherine Gerbing finished in a tie for 30
th with a score of 227 (77-76-74).
