UC Irvine Competes For Big West Title

UC Irvine will vie for a Big West Championship Sunday-Tues. (Apr. 19-21) at the Ka'anapali Golf Course in Maui, Hawai'i.

The Anteaters are joined by fellow Big West members Cal State Fullerton (#41), UC Davis (#63), UC Irvine (#83), Long Beach State (#98), Cal Poly (#100), CSUN (#120), host Hawaii (#148), UC Riverside (#164) and Cal State Bakersfield (#175).
 
The winner of the Championship will receive the Big West's automatic bid into the NCAA regional field. If the individual champion is not from the winning team, they will also earn an entry into a regional.
 
The championship course will play at 6,022 yards and par 72.

Ka'anapali Golf Course was built in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

UC Irvine is the third seed and will tee-off between 10:30 and 11:10 a.m. Sunday and will play with the Titans and Aggies.

The Anteater lineup features Katelyn Kong, Katherine Gerbing, Jenny Chang, Alona Avery and Kiana Briggs.

UCI has captured five Big West Championship (2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008).

Three Anteaters have won the individual Big West Championship title (Stella Lee, Selanne Henderson, Kim Lorenzana).

At the 2001 Big West Championship, Megan Yang fired a school record 65 on the first round at the Yorba Linda Country Club.
