PHOENIX, Ariz. – UC Irvine finished seventh at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate held at the Wigwam Golf Club.
UCI ended with a three-round score of 862 (288-281-293). The Anteaters were tied for third in pars (159) and ninth in birdies with 37. The team was tied for fifth on Par 4 scoring (4.20), seventh on Par 5s (4.77) and ninth in Par 3s (3.26) among the tournament field.
Sophomore
Alona Avery led the Anteaters with a two-day total of 213 (71-69-73) which was tied for 19
th, her second Top 20 performance of the year. She ended the tournament with 13 birdies and was tied for fourth on Par 4 scoring at 3.90.
Senior
Kiana Briggs had her best finish of the season tied for 22
rd with a score of 214 (71-69-74), including a season-low 69 on the second round.
Sophomore
Katelyn Kong carded a final round of even par 71, firing two eagles on the third and 18
th Par 5 holes. She ended the tournament in a tie for 27
th place with a 54-hole total of 216 (74-71-71). With the help of the eagles, Kong led the field in Par 5 scoring at 4.38.
Graduate student
Jenny Chang finished in a tie for 40th place with a three-round score of 220 (72-72-71), while freshman
Chelsie Chin was tied for 70
th with a 230 total (77-75-78).
The Anteaters return to action next Monday (Mar. 30) for the Silicon Valley Showcase, the final tournament before the Big West Championships.
