Frequently Asked Questions

What are the ages allowed to participate for the Youth Basketball and Women's Volleyball camps? 
  • According to NCAA rules, campers are considered "prospective student-athletes" as soon as the individual starts classes for the seventh grade and therefore, cannot participate in youth camps.
  • In cases where the camper has surpassed the age limit, they are welcomed to join ID camps instead.

When does online registration end?
  • For camps starting Monday, online registration will end at 12:00pm the Friday preceding the start of a camp week or when capacity limits have been reached.
  • For camps starting on any other day of the week, registration will close at least one business day before at 12:00pm, or when capacity limits have been reached.
  Is walk-up registration allowed?
Where is check-in? 
  • Check in and check out, on Monday will take place at the entrance to Anteater Ballpark, adjacent to the Mesa Parking Structure for the following camps:
    • Baseball 
    • Girls Youth Basketball
    • Soccer (Youth, Boot and Elite)
    • Tennis
    • Track & Field
    • Volleyball  (Youth & Elite) 
  • Boy's Youth Basketball will check in/out at the Bren Events Center Main Lobby entrance.
  • Check in Tuesday - Friday will be at the camp site unless you are checking in for extended care.
  • Extended Care for camps at the Crawford Complex check in/out will be at the entrance to Anteater Ballpark. The hours are 7:30am - 9am and 3pm- 5:30pm
  • For camps taking place at the Anteater Recreation Center check in will be:
    • Basketball at the main lobby entrance.
    • Soccer will check in at the designated field. Specific location will be provided in a confirmation email.
How do I redeem a discount? (Faculty/Staff, Alumni or Jr Anteater)
Discounts are available for UCI Faculty/Staff; UCI Alumni Association Members; and Junior Anteater Club Members. To qualify for a 10% discount, please following instructions below.
  • Enter Promo Code after hitting the select button and entering the camper name before you "Add to Cart". 
    • UCI Faculty/Staff: use code UCISTAFF
    • Jr. Anteater Club Member: use code JRANTS
    • UCI Alumni Association Member: use code UCIALUMNI
All registrations are subject to verification by the Camps Office prior to the camp start day.
  • No discounts will be applied if camps have been paid in full. 
  • Discounts and promotions only apply to FULL day Youth Camps, unless there is a camp exclusive.
  • Half day camps (ending at 12pm or 1pm), boot camps, elite camps, team camps, showcases, college ID camps, etc., are exempt from these discounts and promotions.
  • There are no group discounts.
  • To redeem any other discounts, click on the registration link. The discount rate will appear when you enter the appropriate code for the desired camp.   
  • Only 1 discount can be applied to each registration
    • You cannot combine discounts (ie. Discount 2 or more cannot be combined with a Faculty/Staff Discount)
What is Extended Care? 
Extended Care is a complimentary service for parents that are able to drop their child/children off before a camp begins and pick them up later after the camp ends.
  • It is only available Monday to Friday, 7:30am-9:00am & 3:00pm-5:30pm
  • Extended Care counselors will take your child to the specified camp before it begins. Sport Camp Counselors will take them back to Extended Care once camp is over.
  • There is NO extended care available for camps that end at 12pm  or 1pm
  • There is a "Late Fee" for parents who do not pick up their campers by 5:30pm
Where do I park when I drop off/pick up my child? Is there a fee to park?
  • Most parking for camps will take place at the Mesa Parking Structure (100 Bren Events Center Drive, Irvine CA). Please read your confirmation email for specific details.
  • The lower level kiosk will be open to receive/purchase all permits (located off Athletics Drive & Mesa Rd) 
  • For all summer camps, parents/ receive a complimentary 30 minute parking permit code in the confirmation email before camp (parents/guardians must receive one to drop off & to pick up)
  • If parents/guardians wish to stay longer than 30 minutes, a parking permit must be purchased at the kiosk (not online) 
  • For camps taking place at the Anteater Recreation Center, (ARC), parking will be at the structure located adjacent to the facility.
    • The same guidelines regarding the 30 minute window apply.
What is the Refund/Transfer Policy?

REFUNDS

  • All refund requests are subject to a cancelation fee. All cancelation requests must be made in writing by 5pm on the day before the start of camp.  No refunds will be issued for cancelation after this time.   • Any requests to transfer  must be done within the SAME CAMP/CLINIC SEASON with the request made one week prior to the first day of camp. No transfers will be made after this time.
  • All cancelation and transfer requests can be sent to the Camp Office at camps@uci.edu.
  • No refunds will be processed after the start of the camp

    THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT ANY REFUND/TRANSFER REQUESTS WILL BE APPROVED.

TRANSFERS

  • Any transfer request must be done within the same camp season (June-August) within the same sport
  • All transfer requests should be emailed to camps@uci.edu at least 1 business day prior to the start of the camp
    • For any transfers where the new camp is more than the previous camp, then the difference must be paid prior to attending the camp 
Is lunch provided?
  • Lunch will not be provided this season. Campers are responsible for providing their own lunch. For full-day camps, campers have the opportunity to eat during break-time. We will provide water and Gatorade. Campers must bring their own thermos/container for water.
What does pool activities mean?
  • Pool activities may be available for certain full day camps this 2024 season
  • Due to most of our full day youth camps offer the option for campers to take an hour break to swim at Crawford Pool
  • Lifeguards will be on duty for all campers 
  • Campers are NOT REQUIRED to swim
  • Please provide swimsuits starting first day of camp because camps may start swimming on the first day
  • Camps taking place at the ARC will not have pool access
What should I pack for my child and what is required for every sport camp?

ALL CAMPS RECOMMEND THAT CAMPERS BRING A WATER BOTTLE (water available for refilling purposes), SUNSCREEN, BACKPACK, SNACKS. PLEASE MARK ALL EQUIPMENT AND GEAR WITH CAMPER'S FIRST & LAST NAME. MOST YOUTH SPORTS DO NOT REQUIRE CAMPERS TO KNOW HOW TO PLAY EVERY SPORT.  

BASEBALL CAMP:

  • Players are highly encouraged to bring their own equipment (Glove, bat, helmet, cleats, etc) 
  • There will be some equipment for loan but not guaranteed.
  • Players are not required to wear cleats and pants, but it is highly recommended.
  • No swimming gear is needed, baseball camp does not swim.
  • Lunch will not be provided. Campers  are responsible for bringing their own lunch.

BASKETBALL CAMP:

  • Campers do not need to bring a basketball, basketballs will be provided for use.
  • Campers should wear athletic shoes that will not mark the gym floor (No black bottom shoes) 
  • Lunch will not be provided. Campers  are responsible for bringing their own lunch.

SOCCER CAMP:

  • All soccer campers should wear cleats, shin guards & comfortable, athletic clothing.
  • Youth campers do NOT have to bring their own soccer ball.
  • Lunch will not be provided. Campers  are responsible for bringing their own lunch.

TENNIS CAMP:

  • Campers should wear comfortable athletic gear and athletic shoes (No black bottom shoes)
  • Tennis Racquet(s)
  • Youth Camps only: Swimming gear (suits, sandals, towels, & goggles if needed) 
  • Lunch will not be provided. Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP:
  • Campers should wear comfortable athletic gear and athletic shoes (No black bottom shoes)
  • Camp is held primarily indoors, but there could be a possibility of going outdoors on grass courts on Crawford Field.
  • Lunch will not be provided. Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch.

ELITE SPEED/THROWS CAMP:

  • These camps give an introduction to all the areas of track and field. Personal equipment is not necessary.
  • Elite Speed: On the last day, the track meet allows campers to be competitive in a fun environment. Campers compete in a variety of events and parents are highly encouraged to attend.
  • Lunch will not be provided. Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch.
What if my child needs special medical attention/treatment throughout camp?
  • If your child needs medical accommodations, please contact our office as soon as you register or before the camp starts. We will contact our Sports Medicine staff to inform them of the special requirements needed.
  • The Sports Medicine staff will also be at check-in on Monday mornings available to speak with parents/guardians in determining our ability to make a reasonable accommodation.
Will I be notified before the camp starts of what to do and what to bring?
  • A confirmation email will be sent to the email on the account 1-3 days before the camp begins
  • These emails will provide all information needed to know for the specific sports camp (check in, parking, location, times, etc)
What if I don't have medical insurance?
  • Parents/Guardians who do not have medical insurance will be responsible for all fees for any type of medical treatment that their child/children receive at the camps
  • For the online registration form, please enter in N/A in the medical insurance box (the box needs to have some sort of information to proceed)
    • If you purchase your insurance after registration, please make sure to email camps@uci.edu with the updated insurance information
